Week 5

I read 5.5 hours of the book A Bend in the Road. It's about a man named Miles, a sheriff, who's wife died while jogging and got hit by a car. That happened two years ago. Since then Miles has been trying to find out who did this terrible thing, ruined his life, and took away the most precious thing in the world to him Missy, his wife. Together they had a son Jonah who is now in second grade. His previous teachers just let him slide because they knew what happened to his mom. But his new teacher Ms. Sarah Andrews was not going to let that fly; he was so far behind compared to the other students. She sets up a meeting with Miles. From the moment they saw each other they couldn't stop thinking about each other. Sarah agrees to tutor Jonah 3 days a week in exchange for a fan for their classroom. Miles looked forward to each day he had to pick Jonah up from school. Sarah had been previously married which ended in divorice when her husband learned she couldn't have children.
Miles grew up the courage to ask Sarah out to dinner. From then on they spent a lot of time together, and Jonah loved her coming around.
Miles had a tif with a neighbor named Otis. He thinks that's who killed his wife, and he was willing to kill him. One day he went to his house put a gun to his head and took him away in a police car. His boss was very angered when he heard this because he went without permission or a warrant. Miles was put on leave. He was so distressed he spent less and less time with Jonah and didn't talk to Sarah either.
Sarah confesses the trouble to Brian her brother. He tells her that it was him. He killed Missy, but it was an accident. Sarah knew she had to tell Miles. He assumed the worst when they showed up. He thought she knew the whole time and felt betrayed. He took Brian in his car and was driving to the police station. They got into a car accident and Brian hurt his head, but it all was an accident just like Brian had said about Missy's death.
Miles knew he had to get over it, which he did. But him and Sarah drifted apart. She didn't expect to ever see him or Jonah again till Christmas when they showed up on her doorstep. Total time: 24.5 hours.
